Pricing, Delivery, & Inquiries

Pricing:  All prices are quoted on an individual basis -- they vary depending on the portrait's overall size, amount of detail,
and color content.  I normally work from photographs, yours or mine; and if you have a primary photograph that you would
like to use for your portrait,
the best way to receive a quote in a timely manner is to forward your digital photo(s) or scan via
e-mail  (or by US mail), or we can easily arrange a meeting if you are in or near the Houston area.
 If e-mailing a photo, please
be sure to include your thoughts or questions on size preferences and background treatment.  With this information, I can
assess whether or not your photo has enough clarity and detail to create a successful and highly realistic portrait and offer
suggestions on cropping, sizes, emphasis, and color as well.   Unless specified otherwise, all quotes are for unframed work.
Please feel free to call me with any questions.

Please send e-mail inquiries to kathryn@klauberportraits.com or phone 281-610-9007.   You may also click on "Contact" in
the navigation bar above to send a direct inquiry.   Please see "Method, Commissions, Artist's Commitment, Matting &
Framing" below for more detailed information.

Delivery:  I will deliver the portrait to you personally (without delivery charge) if you live within the Houston, Austin, or San
Antonio metropolitan areas or are otherwise within a hundred mile radius of Houston.  For greater distances, I will ship your
artwork, flat, fully padded, and fully insured via UPS.   Shipping, handling, and carrier insurance will be added to the price of
the portrait.   My works have been shipped all across the US  and as far as South America.

Inquiries:   For general inquiries, particular questions, or specific requirements please either write to my email address or
call 281-610-9007.

Method, Commissions, Artist's Commitment, Matting & Framing

Method:  The portraits, which usually start with your photographs or mine, capture the
subject's likeness and spirit without the inconvenience of a live sitting.  Although it helps
very much to meet my subjects, it is not imperative.  (Often I will ask clients for several
photographs of my subject -- even though a primary photograph has been chosen -- and
this greatly helps in getting to know him/her.)

All portraits are drawn completely by hand in Prismacolor

(artists' wax and clay based pencils) on 100% cotton archival

paper -- these works will last as well as oil paintings.

Each portrait is a finely crafted work -- to the left is a small

section  from the portrait, Jessica, which represents 2 1/2 square

     inches from a 19"H x 19.5"W work.

My pieces are without any computer-generated/digital effects whatsoever.   I create complete scenes with people in habitats
or environments (whether inside or out).   I can also combine more than one photograph in a piece if focus and lighting are
similar.  If your own photograph is of excellent quality, or you would like for me to create the photograph that I will work from,
and you are interested in a finely detailed and highly realistic work, please send your inquiry to the email address listed here.
If you are located within the Houston, Austin, or San Antonio metropolitan areas (or are otherwise within a hundred miles of
me),we can arrange a viewing of several of my original portraits.

Commissioning a Portrait:  After we agree on photograph(s), concept, portrait cost, and delivery date, I will forward your
contract to you.   Upon your approval of the contract, a 50% deposit is required (by check or major credit card) -- this also
reserves your place in my work schedule.    (The commission period begins when I receive your deposit.)   Nothing more is
required until the work is completed.   (Please see "Commitment" below.)

Commitment:  All finished portraits are subject to client approval.

Local Clients:  If you are a local client the remaining 50% balance is due at delivery.

Long Distance Clients:  When the work is complete, I forward detailed electronic files (photos or scans) of the finished work
for my clients to examine.   When the electronic version is approved,  clients remit the 50% remaining balance of the
commission.   I then ship the artwork.

Additionally, the following commitment is meant to give us both peace of mind:  Within two weeks after your portrait's
delivery, you may ship it back to me for a detail alteration -- for which you will pay nothing -- if you find there is one desired.
This is to make the point that I am very proud of my work and stand completely behind it.

Matting and framing:  All portrait prices are quoted for unframed work unless stated otherwise in your contract.   However, at
the completion of a project, clients often ask for assistance (tips) in making matting and framing choices.  For local clients, I
will assist personally with matting and framing tips at delivery without charge.   For long distance clients, I keep digital photo
files as examples which are sent to you (also without charge) as e-mail attachments at your request.   You can print out these
examples to take along when having your work professionally framed.

Occasionally, clients will ask me to handle matting and framing completely in conjunction with the creation of their portraits;
this service is at client's expense and I am happy to help.  Should you wish for me to handle the framing of your portrait, this
cost will be added to the price of the portrait as per individual contract.
