Pricing, Delivery, & Inquiries
Pricing: Please request general pricing sheet via e-mail. However, specific prices are quoted on an individual basis -- they vary depending on the portrait's
preparation (whether we will need to photograph the subject or work from pre-existing photographs), overall size, amount of detail, and color content. If you are
considering the commissioning of a portrait please e-mail for additional information. Unless specified otherwise, all quotes will be for unframed work. Please
feel free to call with any questions.
Delivery: if you live within the Houston, Austin, or San Antonio metropolitan areas or are otherwise within a hundred mile radius of Houston portraits will be
delivered personally and without delivery charge. For greater distances, artwork will be shipped flat, fully padded, and fully insured via UPS; and shipping,
handling, and carrier insurance will be added to the price of the portrait. Portraits have been shipped to fourteen states and South America.
Inquiries: For general inquiries, particular questions, or specific requirements please email. See below for contact information.
Method, Commissions, Artist's Commitment, Matting & Framing
Method:
All portraits are drawn completely by hand in Prismacolor (artists' wax and clay based
pencils) on 100% cotton archival paper -- these works will last as well as oil paintings.
Each portrait is a finely crafted work -- to the left is a small section from the portrait,
Jessica, which represents 2 1/2 square inches from a 19"H x 19.5"W work.
Pieces are without any computer-generated/digital effects whatsoever. They are all
complete scenes with people in habitats or environments (whether inside or out). If you
are located within the Houston, Austin, or San Antonio metropolitan areas (or are
otherwise within a hundred miles of Houston), a viewing of several of original portraits can be arranged.
Commissioning a Portrait: After the portrait's concept, cost, and delivery date have been settled upon, contracts are issued to clients. Upon client approval of the
contract, a 50% deposit is required (by check or major credit card) -- this also reserves the client's place in the schedule. (The commission period begins when
deposit is received.) Nothing more is required until the work is completed. (Please see "Commitment" below.)
Cancellations: Portrait commissions may be cancelled for up to 72 hours/3 days after deposits have been received for a full refund. After 72
hours of receiving deposit, all deposits are nonrefundable.
Commitment: All finished portraits are subject to client approval.
Local Clients: For local clients the remaining 50% balance is due at delivery.
Long Distance Clients: When the work is complete, detailed electronic files (photos or scans) of the finished piece are e-mailed for clients to examine. When the
electronic version is approved, clients remit the 50% remaining balance of the commission. The artwork is then shipped.
Additionally, the following commitment is meant to give new clients peace of mind: Within two weeks after the portrait's delivery, clients may ship portrait back for
a detail alteration at no charge should one be desired.
Matting and framing: All portrait prices are quoted for unframed works unless stated otherwise in client contract. However, at the completion of a project, clients
often ask for assistance (tips) in making matting and framing choices. Local clients will receive matting and framing tips at delivery without charge. For long
distance clients, electronic/digital photos of matting and framing examples will be e-mailed to clients upon request at no charge. Clients can print out these
examples to take along when having their works professionally framed.
Occasionally, clients will ask that matting and framing be included along with the execution of their portraits. Should clients wish this service be provided, the
cost will be added to the price of the portrait as per individual contract.
