PRIVATE STUDIO ART COURSES
Course: Advanced Visual Arts Workshop (AVAW)
Prerequisites: Students that have had prior courses with me either privately, through Rice University, or at other institutions may enroll.
Overview: Students bring in their own works and materials and receive instruction on those independent projects. So, for instance, if a
student wanted to begin work on a specific portrait with instruction along the way...this is a good class for that. And sometimes my
advanced students bring in projects that they've already started working on -- so this course has no concrete 'beginning' or 'end'; it's for
those who have project ideas and are wanting guidance no matter where they are time-wise in their projects. Every student chooses
his/her own subject, technique, and medium (though everything created in this class is 2D). Some students work on several projects at
once; others work on one the entire length of the course. I keep student numbers low (maximum enrollment: 12) so that I have time to
help everyone during each session. Students enrolling in this course are at various levels...and most have their preferences for what
medium they like. But they're all eager for exposure and instruction.
